A split cadaver Liver Transplant for a boy presenting with acute liver failure secondary to Wilson’s disease.
A 6-year-old boy presented with *acute liver failure due to Wilson’s disease*, a rare inherited disorder of copper metabolism.
In Wilson’s disease, the body cannot properly remove excess copper, causing it to accumulate in the *liver, brain, eyes and other organs*. In severe cases, it can lead to sudden, life-threatening liver failure.
The child had no suitable family donor for liver transplantation. Fortunately, he received a *split left-lobe liver graft from a young deceased donor*.
He recovered remarkably well after the transplant and was discharged home on the *10th postoperative day*.
A life-threatening illness transformed into a new beginning. ❤️
